Ravelry, almost sounds like a place to party but is quite the opposite. I found this community while looking for things to knit one day while i was bored and i think its really cool! there are many free patterns for knitting and crochet and if you need help there are people to help.
when i first started crocheting and knitting i couldn't do anything that required a step by step pattern where you need "this many of this or that", because i always made a mistake somewhere that messed the whole thing up, or i had absolutely no idea what the pattern was talking about so this would be a huge help!
take a gander at it, there are many cute frilly patterns for the more experienced or simple ones for the beginner! i'm working on a cute scarf right now from this place ^^
