being a lifestyle lolita.

I've been thinking about this for the past couple of weeks, what does it mean to be a lifestyle lolita; how do you know your a lifestyle loli? Do you dress in loli everyday? Do you go to meetups? Are you a popular loli? I was trying to figure out points that defines what a lifestyle lolita was when it occurred to me:

"Life style lolita" is just another category that we can pigeon-hole ourselves into.

You dont really need to do anything out of the ordinary to be a lifestyle loli, you just need to be yourself. Sure maybe the one requirement is that you enjoy japanese fashion but you dont need to change who you are to be one. Just like in high school with the "jocks" and "preps" you dont try to be one its just who you are, your on a school sport team and somehow your a jock, but theres so much more to you then that. you shouldn't let one factor of your life define you.

You are what you are and thats ok. just be yourself and let other people worry about defining you.

A life style loli enjoys whatever she pleases, be that tea time or rock concerts. she can not be defined.

Gathering tutorial

The first of many new tutorials, I thought i would start off with gathering so that I can refer back to it in future tutorials. Theres a couple methods of doing this but I find this way really quick and easy because you dont have to worry about the thread breaking while your gathering.

Note: you can use twine or other types of string if you want, I prefer crochet yarn because its thin but strong.

I used white thread and yarn on black fabric for the tutorial.

First: cut out the fabric you want to gather, in the example i used a 6x18 inch rectangle and a 3x6 inch rectangle just as and example.

2: -on wrong side of fabric- Leave a few inches at the beginning so you will have something to grab when its time to gather, and position the yarn in the middle of the foot.

make sure your machine is set to the largest possible ZigZag stitch. As your sewing make sure you dont catch the yarn (this will make it impossible to gather).

3: -right sides together- pin the piece to be gathered to the piece it is to be sewn to at the beginning and end, pull the yarn to start gathering! then pin as needed in between.

4: With a normal straight/top stitch sew the 2 pieces together.

5: Pull out the yarn completely, and finish off the edge in the method of your choice.

Tip: I find its helpful to wrap the yarn on one side around a pin so it cant move, and only pull from one side.

The finished gather! If you have any questions or you feel i didn't explain something well say so and ill do my best to fix it!

outfit post!

Ugh! So sorry for the quality of the picture! My parents tuck the camera to mexico with them (so they could take pictures of nothing really -_-), leaving me camera-less and unable to do much blog wise for the past couple weeks. I really wanted to take a picture of todays outfit though so i resorted to my laptops web cam.

outfit rundown:
shirt: off brand
skirt: bodyline
shoes: bodyline
wig: cosworx

I did take advantage of the bodyline sale as you can tell! i got me some rocking-horse shoes and a couple skirts and such, pictures of those will also be up soon.

They arrive back tomorrow though so expect more posts then!

The forgotten cake

Ah~ the wonders of pound cake! the most underrated cake of all! I hadn't even heard of it till I watched a cooking show on TV about the history of pound cake. But now that I've tried it I dont see why it hasen't made its way into more loli tea partys.

Its easy to bake, and requires no icing! for those watching what they eat. and you can make it in a variety of flavors (vanilla or chocolate being the main ones). I myself made a chocolate one the other day and it turned out great! (a but burnt on the sides though, but thats really just me failing at baking).

My first brand item

I was really excited to receive my new BtsSB dress in the post yesterday! It was "Take a walk with Usakumya-chan jumper skirt" in black.

It arrived extremely fast, It was shipped on friday and out for delivery the following tuesday (sadly i wasn't home at the time) thats 5 days to get to canada! I was very nervous placing the order, using the shopping cart and a different paypal account but it all turned out good and there was no confusion! I give Baby a 5/5 on everything!

Up until now I've sewn all my own clothes, it was unexpectedly amazing to put on a brand dress. It was how i would imagine putting on a wedding dress would be. I put it on and just felt pretty.

I think I might have just become a brand whore.
